Party donations are an important part of politics. They are an important indicator of political support. We try to present this data clearly and comprehensibly.
The data used here comes from the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) and includes all published political party funding declarations (Section 9(1)) since 2021, including valid late submissions. Indirect contributions to the Multi-Party Democracy Fund and duplicate donor-side disclosures (Section 9(2)) are excluded.
Note on thresholds: Political parties were required to report donations exceeding ZAR 100,000 per donor per year until 1 April 2024, when the legal disclosure threshold was increased to ZAR 200,000.

Since 2021, the biggest disclosed single donation in South Africa reached ZAR 30,000,000.00 from WE ARE THE PEOPLE to RISE Mzansi in 2026. This is followed by ZAR 15,000,000.00 from MARY SLACK to Democratic Alliance, ZAR 15,000,000.00 from CHANCELLOR HOUSE TRUST to African National Congress, and ZAR 15,000,000.00 from MARTIN PAUL MOSHAL to Democratic Alliance.
